What is Thé-Crypt?

The site was originally conceived as a dumping ground for all manner of projects and ideas that had been germinating within my mind over the last decade or so. A lack of time, the vagaries of real-life responsiblities and other issues conspired to prevent that vision coming to fruition. With the domain and web-hosting essentially gathering dust, I decided in 2008 to choose a simple concept for this site and follow through with an actual implementation of those ideas. Thus was born, Thé-Crypt's online video game review database.

The primary goal of the site is to provide readers with a quick and easy means of perusing video game reviews from a wide-range of internet sites to help prospective buyers decide upon worthwhile acquistions. While there are plenty of similar sites already in existence, it's my hope that the completely independent nature of this site will make it a useful and valuable supplement to those resources.

I also occasionally post my own thoughts on the video games that I've played, in rather lengthy and questionable verbiage. It should be clearly pointed out that no game companies or magazines solicit my opinions on any of the games I review. If an article appears on this site, its based on the retail product acquired from a local or online retailer. I certainly don't get paid to write these things and my work space isn't adorned with questionable plushies of popular video game characters donated by game publisher PR representatives. I do my best to play any product to completion (or explore as much of the world on offer as possible.) If I don't manage to achieve this goal, it'll be clearly stated in the review. Failure to complete at least one playthrough of a game is usually restricted to those titles that are so damn awful that that they could induce physical or mental trauma to the player. In these instances, you'll be clearly told within the article of any steps taken by the author to ensure self-preservation.

I always appreciate feedback, criticism, feature requests etc. from anyone unfortunate enough to have stumbled upon this site. Feel free to check out the Feedback page and either post a public comment or send a private e-mail if you're shy.
